Sign a PDF in three steps

  1. Open Sign PDF and choose your document.
  2. Draw your signature in the box. On a phone or tablet, use your finger; on a laptop, a trackpad works better than you might expect.
  3. Click the place on the page where the signature should go, then download the signed PDF.

The document is signed in your browser and is not uploaded, so contracts and forms stay private.

Also need to fill in your name or the date?

If the PDF has form fields, Fill PDF form lists every field so you can type into them. If it does not, Edit PDF lets you click anywhere on the page and type.

Stop the signature being moved or edited

After signing, run the file through Flatten PDF. It makes form answers and annotations part of the page, so they cannot easily be changed. For a password on top, use Protect PDF.

Is a drawn signature legally valid?

In many countries a simple electronic signature like this is accepted for everyday agreements, forms and letters. Some documents, such as certain property, court or government papers, require a qualified digital signature or a signature in ink. If you are unsure, ask the organisation that will receive the document.
