Are online PDF tools safe? What happens to your files

Updated 14 October 2026 · DeevitHub PDF

With most online PDF sites, your document is uploaded to a server, processed there and deleted later. Browser-based tools work differently: the file is processed on your own device and never leaves it.

What “upload” means for your document

When a site uploads your PDF, a copy travels over the internet and is stored on someone else’s computer, at least for a while. Reputable services encrypt the transfer and promise to delete files after a few hours. Even so, you are trusting their security, their staff and their deletion policy with whatever is in the file.

For a recipe or a flyer, that rarely matters. For payslips, bank statements, ID copies, medical reports or contracts, it is worth thinking about.

How browser-based tools are different

Modern browsers can run full PDF libraries. DeevitHub PDF uses them to merge, split, compress, sign and convert files on your own phone or computer. The page loads its code once; your document is opened locally and the result is created locally.

How to check for yourself

  1. Open a tool such as Merge PDF and let the page finish loading.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  3. Add your files and run the tool. If it still works, the file was never sent anywhere.

Some features download extra data the first time you use them, such as OCR language data or fonts. Those downloads do not contain your document.

Questions

Does DeevitHub PDF store my files?

No. Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.

Why does the page still need the internet?

To load the page and its code libraries, and for some features (such as OCR language data) the first time you use them. Your documents are not part of those requests.
